November At The Flamingo

Deanna, Jon, Shannon, and Ken

     Jon loved Las Vegas. It always felt like you had boarded a plane and traveled light years to another planet. Ken and Deanna Scott also loved Las Vegas and so we decided it would be the perfect place for the four of us to go together.

The machine that paid us all

     I love going to Vegas but I've never had much luck at the machines. It is a good thing I love the 'bells and whistles' of the penny machines. Jon loved the machines but his favourite place was the Sports Desk. He could place $2 bets on every sporting event scheduled for the day. He always made a little and would usually let me try my luck with some of his winnings. Deanna was the big machine winner on this trip although Ken scored on one machine and I even took it for a little.

     We spent most of the time traveling in and around the casinos on the blvd.
We took in a Terry Fator show and were so impressed by his skill at ventriloquy. One evening we sat outside and watched the mimes entertain the masses. Jon and Ken could be found walking and talking about the games they hoped to watch on the big screens.

      Jon was able to use 'the shoebox' again in December for a second trip to Vegas. He traveled with the fellas and without the albatross of a 'loser' wife he managed to bring his monies home for Christmas gifts. 

     There are no words to express how fortunate we were to have such generous friends. They allowed Jon, and by extension his family to pack those last months with life, love, and laughter.
